Home care agencies are key players in helping older persons and people with disabilities get the help they need in their own homes. Many home care agencies, however, continue to struggle with siloed processes, too much paperwork, scheduling issues, compliance challenges, and lack of insight into care services. These challenges motivated me to start developing CareBridge Systems.

The problem that I have observed

A home-care organization has many stakeholders and tasks. The administration should manage the caregivers, clients, scheduling, documentation, EVV, payroll, billing, and compliance. Caregivers require an easy-to-use interface where they can view their assignments, take attendance, document the care provided, and share the necessary updates. Information sharing becomes delayed, duplicated, or hard to verify when done using separate channels or manually.

The importance of improved technology

Rather than just tracking the time that a caregiver spends clocking in and out of a home-care visit. Home-care technology should aid an agency in knowing what happened during the visit, whether the documentation is complete, and if there were any issues raised. Agencies would benefit from technology that helps them schedule and manage visits, verifies the visits electronically, documents the visits, tracks medications, checks for compliance, calculates accurate payrolls, and communicates with families. The aim shouldn’t be to eliminate caregivers or managers but to facilitate their job tasks.

The Role of Artificial Intelligence

There are many ways in which AI technology may come in handy. It can help analyze data and uncover some hidden patterns. For instance, it can help summarize reports made by the caregiver, discover gaps in the documentation, spot any strange activities related to visits, etc. On the other hand, it is necessary to keep in mind certain aspects of using AI in the healthcare sector.

Considering privacy and compliance during the process of building

Since the use of healthcare technology involves confidential information, security cannot be considered an extra component. It needs to be incorporated into the system right from the onset. The following aspects should be considered when building the platform : Access controls, encryption, auditing, cloud security infrastructure, back-up, authentication, and handling of health information.

The Vision for CareBridge Systems

My vision is to develop an ecosystem which would bring together the vital components of the home-care process and would be user friendly. CareBridge Systems will assist administrators, caregivers, clients, families, scheduling staff and finance in their work with interconnected processes and information. The blog will provide practical knowledge on home care technologies, artificial intelligence, compliance, software development and the experience of developing a healthcare technology firm.

The way forward

Creating effective health care applications is not just about coding but also listening to regulatory bodies, understanding their rules, keeping data secure, and considering actual operations. Using CareBridge Insights, I will record my learnings and investigate how technology can be used to create safe, efficient, and transparent home care services.
